Mesothelioma is a deadly disease which is not restricted to any one person or one nation. It is caused due to asbestos exposure owing to the mining and manufacture of products with asbestos in nations around the world. This is slowly leading to make mesothelioma becoming a world-wide epidemic.
Owing to the increase in the cases of mesothelioma, some countries have banned the usage of asbestos but some countries also seek safe asbestos exposure levels. However, many nations continue its usage and ignore the hazards of its exposure. At times asbestos workers have been exposed to the deadly fibers due to the ignorance of their employers. Even advanced nations at times, do not follow the norms and implement its complete ban for fear of economic loss. Under such circumstances, these affected workers can seek the help of mesothelioma lawyers and file a mesothelioma lawsuit. If the case is in their favor, then they can even get substantial amount as mesothelioma settlement.
European Union has banned asbestos in 2005, but still many European companies source asbestos from companies in Africa, Canada and South America. Canada, only uses 29% of asbestos out of what they produce and sell the rest to Asia, Africa and South America. In spite of having occupational laws, countries like India and China do not protect the asbestos workers from being exposed to asbestos. Also countries like Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Canada, and Zimbabwe are leaders of asbestos production and are responsible for 96% of that produced worldwide. China is the second largest producer of asbestos in the world and a huge number of asbestos workers working here are prone to mesothelioma as they work without any protection. Moreover, as most of its factories are located in heavily populated cities, more number of people are at risk.
Mesothelioma is a devastating disease which can affect anybody, be it men, women or children who are exposed to asbestos fibers. It can be prevented around the world by setting up stringent rules against the usage of asbestos and ban it completely. Its mining, manufacture and usage should be completely stopped or greatly limited to save humanity.
